Nintendo gets Feisty
Well, I am into the Wii Homebrew Scene, and as I was scrolling on a site the other day, i found this:
A double shot of bad news for the Wii hacking set today -- not only do new Wiis appear to have a modchip-proof layer of epoxy around the DVD-ROM IC chips, Waninkoko has abandoned the Wii Backup-Loader project. The modchip news isn't all that surprising -- Ninty's been fighting a losing battle against chip devs for a while now, and gluing things down with epoxy is a logical solution -- but Waninkoko quitting is a bit of a shock, since we just caught wind of the Wii Backup-Loader a few days ago. Apparently he's not happy that it was leaked this morning, so he's dropping it.
It's a shame that now someone making pirating Wii games without a mod chip possible has made it harder for the Wii Homebrew scene to be alive, once again, Nintendo has tried to stop piracy on the Wii as they did the DS. I admit I do have a flashcard in my DS to download games, but most of them are just backups of my games, and I still buy the games if they are good. Links of the Backup-Loader are still hosted on the net elsewhere, but it was still in Beta and glitchy, so I do not even dare try it on my Wii. 'm just happy in a way that the Backup-Loader was dropped before it would be able to hit Nintendo hard.

I couldn't afford my Wii either. So I split it 50/50 with my brother. But I stacked gift cards from years past, so I only spent $25 on it. And don't worry about not affording it, it's not going to be at the same price forever :b

Well, at least there's still R4 for the DS.

Heh. Wow Alpha I didn't expect to see you one the R4 gravy train.
I doubt I would ever get that for the Wii. I can actually buy the games I want to play.

Well, I'm not exactly on that train...a bunch of my friends are, which is how I know about it. I personally don't see the problem with R4 as long as you own the games you store on it...
Anyways, I'm in the next car over, the one titled "emulators" and "Zelda Classic".
